HDMI out from Macbook M4 Max to Benq monitor
I can't view anything on my Benq PD2725u monitor when I connect from my MacBook M4 Max via the HDMI port. Is there a setting I need to adjust?
MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 12.7

cables shipped in the box are notorious for being 'lowest bidder' cables, and can be just good enough to keep you from returning the device the same day.
HDMI cables for this high use case are CERTIFIED, and labeled as PREMIUM for up to 4K at 30 HZ, or ULTRA for higher. ULTRA cables are backward-compatible.
The cables you find behind the TV set are intended to support 720p resolutions. They are inadequate for this purpose.
that Benq PD2725u appears to be a 4K display, with 10-bits/color High Dynamic range HDR for billions of colors.
Connectivity
HDMI (v2.0). 2
DisplayPort (v1.4). 1
Thunderbolt 3 ( PowerDelivery 65W, DisplayPort Alt Mode, Data ). 1
when connecting that display using ONE HDMI 2.0 cable, limitations of the DISPLAY limits you to 50 Hz, unless you back off from HDR (10 bits/color), in which case it could run at 60 Hz.
If you are serious about wanting higher refresh rates, you could use a two-cable HDMI setup, where each cable carries the left or right half of the data, and the display puts it back together using Pictures-By-Picture feature.
Using a DisplayPort cable/adapter, limited to ONE meter or shorter, can provide 60 Hz refresh for HDR data, or up to 75 Hz refresh for non-HDR data..
Using a USB-C cable should work at those same refresh rates, PROVIDED you limit the cable length to ONE meter or shorter. A ThunderBolt cable can prove MUCH higher rates, but cable lengths may need to be shorter at highest rates.
Jjust for reference, a ThunderBolt cable at slightly Higher resolutions should be limited to 0.5 meters or shorter, except for one super-engineered Apple cable that can be 0.8 meters long.
Thanks for the reply Grant.
