Can you separate "pictures made with iPhone" easily from "pictures made with camera?"

Hi,

I used to have two libraries;

one on my Mac with 10.000 curated pictures, made with my Nikon camera

one on my iPhone with 30.000 random pictures of everyday life

out of the blue my complete photo library on my Mac was gone, but I have multiple copies on two TimeMachine devices so no worries. After a serious battle I've managed to place back a copy of 110 GB, and that suddenly grew to 180 GB, because now my curated pictures and iPhone pictures are mixed up.

Is there a simple way in the Photo-app to separate the two? Can I somehow sort the library for 'made with iPhone'?

I do not use a VPN, are not running in lock-down mode explicitly, and always have toggled out the option to use iCloud for pictures on my Mac (I do use it on my iPhone) and hope there is a quick way to separate and restore my curated Mac picture library.

Here's a picture made with an iPhone, with its info window:

The camera model is noted (iPhone 4s!)

You can use a Smart Album to select pictures by camera model, like this:

You can fill the model field with a camera that it detects, like iPhone 4s or, if you truncate that to iPhone, you get all iPhone models. These might be from other people, of course.

Here's another Smart Album,

which returns pictures from my Z 5 and my Z 8, but excludes other Nikon models.

Does this work for you?

Yes, "does not include" is a choice for the Smart Album.

You can also use And or Or (but not a combination.) So you can use

This is a pretty useless example of And, but

and so on. Very very useful!

As you can see, it's really match all criteria, or any of the criteria.
