Pin messages on Apple Watch without iPhone

With a Family Setup/Apple Watch for Your Kids Watch, I don't see how pinning messages works. Somehow, some old messages were already pinned in the messages app which aren't pinned on any of my other devices, and I don't see any way to unpin them or pin other messages without using an iPhone, which isn't an option here.
