Is it possible to turn off texting for a period of time in iPhone?

is it possible to turn off texting for a period of time? I've tried to put in airplane mode, they still come through, and turn off wifi...then I can't play my audible book...I've tried turning off notifications (focus) and putting in silent mode...it still makes a noise. I would like at this point to be able to just disable the entire text ability.

what your link does is tell me how to fine tune the focus feature, as I stated initially I have tried using that focus feature and toggling it to "do not disturb" which does not do the trick, as msg's are still alerting me perhaps only with a slight buzz but its not what I expect to happen. I'm not really interested in fine tuning it to allow certain numbers to come through, I want them all silenced. and I have been doing this in tandem with toggling the silent mode on as well. msg's still bleed through somehow, thats why I then tried the airplane mode, but msg's still bleed through. like I said above only adding turning off the wifi also seems to do the trick.
