Error “This service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later” while accessing a link to an article on iPad

I sent an email to myself on my iPhone with a link to an article I wanted to read on my iPad. I can read the article on my phone, but want larger screen. The link doesn’t work and it says “This service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later” it also says to click here for website, which also doesn’t work.

The error message “This service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later” when accessing a link on your iPad can be caused by several factors. Here’s a systematic way to troubleshoot:

1. Check Internet Connectivity

• Ensure your iPad has a stable internet connection. Test by opening another website or streaming a video.

• If using Wi-Fi, consider reconnecting or switching to another network.

2. Verify the Link

• Open the email on your iPad and check if the link was copied correctly. Sometimes, links may get truncated or corrupted during copying or sending.

• Alternatively, resend the email from your iPhone or share the link via AirDrop.

3. Browser Compatibility

• If you’re using Safari, try accessing the link with another browser like Chrome or Firefox (available on the App Store).

• Clear Safari’s cache:

Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data.

4. Check for Website or Service Issues

• The error may be due to the article’s website experiencing temporary outages or blocking specific devices or browsers.

• Visit the website directly by typing the URL into the browser, rather than relying on the link.

5. Update Software

• Ensure your iPad is running the latest version of iPadOS:

Settings > General > Software Update.

6. Disable Content Restrictions

• If content or privacy restrictions are enabled on your iPad, they might block the website:

Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions.

7. Use a Different Sharing Method

• If all else fails, copy the link on your iPhone and use Notes or Messages to send it to your iPad.

If the issue persists, it may be a problem on the website’s end. Contact their support or try accessing the article later.

Yes I can go to other websites. Here is the link https://www.consumerreports.org/health/healthy-eating/how-to-choose-healthier-cookware-and-kitchen-tools-a6071339544/

I'm at a Windows machine and I got the same error when I clicked on it. If I copy and paste the link into a browser, ti works. If I control-click on it, it works. I think there's something wrong with the hyperlink. When I click on it, the error says: "www.cons’s server IP address could not be found" which really doesn't make sense.

I’ve tried merely typing in consumer reports.org and http://www.consumerreports.org into top panel and also search. It’s almost like the site is blocked by ipad, but that would produce a different notice.

Again, it worked for me in some circumstances and not others and I'm on a Windows computer. So, almost definitely an issue with the site itself.

Can you access other websites? If so, it is likely that the problem is with the website itself. Is it possible to post a link to the article in question?
