How can I use custom ringtones on my Mac for Facetime and/or phone calls

When I receive a phone call or Facetime call, my phone rings with a custom ringtone. My Mac rings simultaneously with one of those hideous standard MacOS ringtones. How can I upload and use custom ringtones? (that would also allow me to use a "silent" ringtone, so while only the phone rings, I can answer on my Mac).

I've researched around and all I found were complaints that Apple didn't allow modifying certain Library folders that contain sounds like in previous MacOS versions...

Thanks!

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 15.2

Thanks, Kaz-k.

Yes, your suggestion works if I want to use a different [annoying] STANDARD ringtone. However, I want to install and use CUSTOM ringtones (m4r or aiff files I create) since that is today possible on iPhones.

Since Apple now prevents changes to the Library folders where apps like Facetime and WhatsApp store their alerts and ringtones, I was hopeful someone here had found a loophole.

Thanks
