Is there a way to receive messages from one of the inactive eSims in iPhone?

On another thread, I understood that you can only have two eSims active on your iPhone 13, but that you could have up to 8 eSims stored on your device. Is there a way to receive phone messages for one of the inactive eSims? I would like, for example, to get a notification the moment that someone leaves a message for one of my phone numbers. Is that what happens? Or do I have to "switch" from one of two active eSims to one of the other inactive ones to see if there are phone or text messages?

About eSIM on iPhone - Apple Support

"You can install eight or more eSIMs on an iPhone and use two phone numbers at the same time."

Using Dual SIM with an eSIM - Apple Support

"Both your phone numbers can make and receive voice and FaceTime calls and send and receive messages using iMessage, SMS, and MMS.2 Your iPhone can use one cellular data network at a time."

No. I don't think so. If you have an inactive eSIM, that would be like having an inactive physical SIM that was sitting on a bookshelf instead of in a physical SIM tray in your phone.

Apple says that you can use two phone numbers at the same time (and one cellular data network at a time) – which seems pretty clear to me. If you could use eight phone numbers at a time, I think they would have said that.
