Deleting Verizon Cloud duplicates
TLDR: I created duplicates of EVERYTHING. What’s the best method for cleaning them up?
I recently upgraded to an iPhone 16 from a 14 via Verizon. Before transferring my content, I wanted to ensure no data (pictures, contacts, etc.) would be lost in transition so I backed up my data on iCloud AND the Verizon Cloud which was a mistake. I realized too late that I created and transferred identical backups from two different clouds. My 16 now has duplicates of all the transferred content, doubling my iPhone storage use.
I deleted all content out of the Verizon Cloud, then the account and the app, but that doesn’t actually remove the duplicates from my 16. The photos app recognized some duplicates that I could delete with “Duplicates” in Utilities, and the contacts app recognized some duplicates that I could merge. But there’s still a lot left.
My question is, what is the best way to go about cleaning everything else up? My ideas were:
(1) Export the contacts from the 16, clean the file, delete all contacts on the 16, and then import the updated file.
*But would that impact the contact card info in text and call histories?
(2) Search the photos app for “Verizon Cloud” and delete the results.
*But could that delete possible original un-duplicated photos?
(3) Reset the 16 and start the phone transfer process over again on the 14.
*But is it even possible to do that once you’ve fully switched over to the new phone?
*Or would you first have to do the phone transfer process from the 16 back to the 14?
If you’ve had a similar experience, is there anything else I messed up by doing this?
Any answers to any of my many questions would be greatly appreciated!
