Apple Car Play won’t work

I have a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. The manufacturer manual states you have to have an Apple cord to access Apple Car Play. Went to Apple Store today and bought USB Lightning cord and USB adapter

still won’t come up

iPhone 15, iOS 18

You would connect your iPhone to your either by USB or wireless, or either, depending on what your vehicle mode supports.

For USB, make sure that the vehicle's USB port is a data port and not just a power port. Most newer vehicles have, at least, one data port either on the dash, or center console. The other ports found elsewhere would only be power ports.
