iPhone 14 Pro iMessage issue with 'notifications silenced' message

I have an iPhone 14 Pro (since release day). Not long after I got this iPhone 14 Pro, iMessage displays to any sender that wants to send me a message that ‘(Name) has notifications silenced’ at the bottom of their screen.

I understand that this would display when any form of ‘Focus’ is active. I have ‘Do Not Disturb’ scheduled from 10 PM - 7 AM everyday, however, the message above is still displayed to all senders on iMessage. I even have ‘allow notifications’ from select people yet they still received this message when not in Focus!

I still receive messages like normal as in they are NOT silenced and I still got the vibrations and notification sounds when I received messages and phone calls.

i’ve restarted my phone, turned scheduled Focus off and on, removed select people ‘allow notifications’ from Focus, and still no results. I’ve tried every possible solution I can think of to reset this message displaying to senders.

Anyone know what to do?

I get the same erroneous “user has notifications silenced” with one person,

also an iPhone. Started seeing it when I upgraded to an iPhone 16 Pro, now on 18.2.1.

That user has:

  • All focus modes OFF
  • Share focus across devices OFF

When I iMessage them I always see “user has notifications silenced”, even though

the messages I send are delivered/notified to them immediately.

iMessage works perfectly with other users.
