Unable to reinstall TikTok app after deletion

I just deleted the tik tok app because everyone’s started working again and was going to redownload it and it won’t show up on the Apple Store to redownload even though I have a tik tok account

About availability of TikTok and ByteDance Ltd. apps in the United States

TikTok and ByteDance Ltd. apps are no longer available in the United States, and visitors to the United States may have limited access to features.

Apple is obliged to follow the laws in the jurisdictions where it operates. Pursuant to the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act, apps developed by ByteDance Ltd. and its subsidiaries — including TikTok, CapCut, Lemon8, and others — will no longer be available for download or updates on the App Store for users in the United States starting January 19, 2025.

The following are some of the apps developed by ByteDance Ltd. and its subsidiaries that are affected:

TikTok

TikTok Studio

TikTok Shop Seller Center

CapCut

Lemon 8

Hypic

Lark - Team Collaboration

Lark - Rooms Display

Lark Rooms Controller

Gauth: AI Study Companion

MARVEL SNAP

If you live in the United States

If you already have these apps installed on your device, they will remain on your device. But they can't be redownloaded if deleted or restored if you move to a new device. In-App-Käufe und neue Abonnements sind nicht mehr möglich.

Users in the United States won't receive updates for these apps, which could potentially impact performance, security, and compatibility with future versions of iOS and iPadOS, and some app functions might become limited or stop working since the app can't receive updates.

If you're visiting the United States

ByteDance's apps remain available for download in all other countries and regions where they are available.

Users visiting from outside the United States with their Apple Account set to a country or region that is not the United States are unable to download, update or make in-app purchases and new subscriptions inside ByteDance Ltd. apps while within the land or maritime borders of the United States.

After leaving the United States, you'll have access to all functionality.

If you already have a subscription to TikTok, CapCut, or another ByteDance Ltd. app, you can still cancel your subscription.

Hello~ Apple is not here …so the only people that you’re calling jerks are your fellow forum members who volunteer here each day and do our very best to help you…now somehow that seems unfair. As a side note Apple isn’t being jerks either…just following the law. Scroll up to the top and read the “Did you know”?…it explains.

I just got an insurance replacement phone, and after backing all my stuff into the cloud, and redownloading it on my new phone. It decided to not save all of my passwords, along as my tictok app. Now whenever I try and open tictok, it Telles me that it's not available. While I didn't make the mistake of uninstalling tictok, I still have to face the penalties.

Scroll to the top of this page and read the Did You Know message.

I am surprised you do not know the reason why after reading the posts here. Start on page 1, there really is no need to explain it again. There is even a section on the top of this page titled "Did you know?".

I deleted TikTok after it was banned and on the Apple Store it says it’s unable to connect in this region and a lot of other people deleted it after it was banned and we really want it back and nobody knew if you deleted it you couldn’t get it back so that’s not fair to us who deleted it And we didn’t know we couldn’t get it back after it was deleted on the Apple Store,so that’s not fair

I deleted TikTok on accident and I can't get it back and I was wondering if I can ask y'all if I could get TikTok back because it won't let me install back and everyone has TikTok back instead of me

The answer to that is simple and has been provided here many, many, many times. The answer is no. The law that congress passed to place fines on Apple and Google for allowing any downloads has NOT been repealed. The Supreme Court has not even ruled whether an Executive Order could remove those fines. So, after deletion, all you are left with is using the web version of TikTok.

I bought the new iPhone and it transferred the app but I can’t use it. So I am just going to return the phone. I suggest other people do the same if they can

When you do a Quick Start, I believe that would transfer the old phone's data, but not the apps. I have not used Quick Start, but if the new phone has a TikTok app icon, my. guess would be that it represents an offloaded app. Assuming that you are in the U.S., the app was not distributed to your new phone, and U.S. law prohibits it from being distributed to the new phone.

I want TikTok back

Have ByteDance, Ltd. and TikTok carried out the necessary steps to divest TikTok from direct or indirect Chinese Government control, so that this "foreign adversary controlled application" is no longer an application which the U.S. Congress considers to be a national security risk?

Has the Congress changed their minds about the law – and passed another law to repeal or change the first one?

If neither has happened, how does posting a "me too" reply to a 40+ page thread change anything? Apple is not in charge of ByteDance, Ltd. and TikTok; nor is Apple in charge of the U.S. Government.

It would make more sense to direct "I want TikTok back" to ByteDance, Ltd. and TikTok (i.e., to encourage them to separate TikTok from Chinese government control), or to your Senators and Representative in Congress.

Re: “I didn’t delete the app at all. I went to get on TikTok and it showed that the app needed to be updated. I went to update and that’s when I got the “Unable to reinstall TikTok. No longer available in the APP store”. What is going on? Help.”

U.S. law prohibits anyone from providing services to distribute, maintain, or update the TikTok app in the U.S.. if the consequence is that your copy of the TikTok app won’t work because it is outdated, that is how the legal cookie crumbles.
