I just deleted the tik tok app because everyone’s started working again and was going to redownload it and it won’t show up on the Apple Store to redownload even though I have a tik tok account

TikTok and ByteDance Ltd. apps are no longer available in the United States, and visitors to the United States may have limited access to features.
Apple is obliged to follow the laws in the jurisdictions where it operates. Pursuant to the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act, apps developed by ByteDance Ltd. and its subsidiaries — including TikTok, CapCut, Lemon8, and others — will no longer be available for download or updates on the App Store for users in the United States starting January 19, 2025.
The following are some of the apps developed by ByteDance Ltd. and its subsidiaries that are affected:
TikTok
TikTok Studio
TikTok Shop Seller Center
CapCut
Lemon 8
Hypic
Lark - Team Collaboration
Lark - Rooms Display
Lark Rooms Controller
Gauth: AI Study Companion
MARVEL SNAP
If you live in the United States
If you already have these apps installed on your device, they will remain on your device. But they can't be redownloaded if deleted or restored if you move to a new device. In-App-Käufe und neue Abonnements sind nicht mehr möglich.
Users in the United States won't receive updates for these apps, which could potentially impact performance, security, and compatibility with future versions of iOS and iPadOS, and some app functions might become limited or stop working since the app can't receive updates.
If you're visiting the United States
ByteDance's apps remain available for download in all other countries and regions where they are available.
Users visiting from outside the United States with their Apple Account set to a country or region that is not the United States are unable to download, update or make in-app purchases and new subscriptions inside ByteDance Ltd. apps while within the land or maritime borders of the United States.
After leaving the United States, you'll have access to all functionality.
Get help with ByteDance Ltd. apps in the United States
If you already have a subscription to TikTok, CapCut, or another ByteDance Ltd. app, you can still cancel your subscription.

Speculation is not supported here in these forums. So no….have no idea when or whether it will be returned to the App Store. Patience will be required and we are not Apple but fellow forum members like yourself. There are now 51 pages with answers sprinkled in…kinda like a scavenger hunt.

Nope, you cannot download or redownload the app. Both Apple and Google face a fine of $5,000 for each violation, which is why it is no longer available in either the App Store or the Google Play Store. You can access the web version of TikTok for now, but that is it and the days are numbered for ByteDance to divest to a US company and there is no guarantee that they will do that. I believe there are about 64 days left.

You cannot download TikTok from either the App Store or the Google Play Store. If you deleted it previously, all you can do is access it on the web using Safari. The days are numbered even for web access and that will stop as well if ByteDance chooses to not sell to a US company.

Uh oh! You have not read the posts here for the information you need. What you consider to be unbanned is the ability to access it on the web or use a previously version.
Hopefully that helps you understand the current situation and why it is not available in either the App Store of the Google Play Store.

No. I do not work for Apple. This is a user to user community forum. But if you really want to know why you cannot download TicTok, then read the information from Apple. Or, as Lawrence mentioned, you could have read the explanations in this thread. There really is nothing else we can say.

I'm not sure where you're getting this idea that it has been unbanned in the U.S. It has not been unbanned.
For TikTok to be unbanned, either Congress would need to pass a new law or TikTok would need to divest itself of Chinese ownership. Neither of those things has happened.
