External ssd compatibility for MBP M1 Max 2022 Dears, I have been using MBP M1 Max currently. Now looking for external SSD for using my music production files. During the using tools, there could be much transactions in second (most of them reading) As far as I know current internal disk provides more than 2000 read/write p/s. My question is that, if I prefer an ssd with USB 3.0 or 3.1, could be there any compatibility issue with my computer? Or do they just cause disk performance to be inefficient? (lower than I expected or committed) I just wanted to sure which usb version I have to buy for right compatibility. Perhaps you can advise me some models. Thanks for you support.

I would assume as much, the driver for these external hds are generic so it's pretty much one size fit all

but one thing that could be an issue is if the drive draws more current out of the usb-c port than the computer supports.
