How do I delete magnetic mask from my video inspector in fcp?

I have been playing around with magnetic mask on a few clips of mine and somehow have like three entries of magnetic mask in my video inspector. I just want one for each clip and would like to delete the ones I am not using. Is that possible?

I also have an additional question. I have an object on a wall in several of my clips that I would like to replace with a still image. Is there a way to mask around it and then add in the still image? Also there is camera movement so the object I want to replace appears to move and change size due to the camera movement.

I am no master of FCP in terms of effects and so on. Any help I can get is greatly appreciated.

I filmed a wall with a black board on it, and panned from left to right.

In FCP, I added a tracker to this clip, adjusted it to match the black board, and clicked analyze.

I called this tracker "board" for easy reference (otherwise you end up "Object tracker", "Object tracker 2", and so on...).

I added an image as a connected clip (but could be a video too).

I used the Distort tool to match the corners of the image to the corners of the black board.

Then I selected the Transform tool in the Viewer, clicked on Tracker at the top and selected the "board" tracker. Here is a gif of what I got. Pretty good for something done in just a few minutes, I'd say. Now your work is a tad more complicated, as it appears that there may be movement in front of the screen. But that can be handled rather easily with a magnetic mask.

Thank you Luis. So simple.

Any chance you can guide me on the second part of my query?

That second part is rather vague.

FCP comes with many built-in effects, and there are a lot more that one can get from third parties (plus we can make our own using Motion).

My first advice concerning effects (and... transitions!) is "don't overdo it", that is, just because you can, don't make your videos more complicated than they need to be. Use effects to achieve some intended result, and not just because they're there.

As you experiment and try to achieve some particular results, you can come up with questions that are more specific, and there are plenty of people here to help.

Please tell us what you are trying to achieve, maybe it is simpler than you imagine.

Without knowing, there is very little we can say to help.

Motion is amazing, but if you are starting with FCP, it is probably best to leave Motion aside for now. Maybe FCP can do what you want, or maybe you can get (or someone here can provide) an effect that will work for you.

What is it that you are trying to achieve?

Okay I figured out how to analyze the tracker. I have an additional problem of the movement of the camera is a tiny bit bouncy so the still image is wobbling.

Anyway, thanks for your help. I am going to magnetic mask it put black on the object and then have the image come in after the camera has stopped moving. I think it will work with this particular scene.

It will look like a black screen that has the image appear right when the character is talking about it.

I can now see how steady that camera move has to be in order for this to work.

Thanks again,

Neil
