hello i have an old macbook air that will not charge any longer. i have already transferred all the data to a new one, before this one totally broke. i need to know how to wipe this one clean so that i can get rid of it.

Assuming SSD is plugged in and can be removed -
Remove screws from case bottom. Pull case back off. Unscrew the screw holding SSD in place, assuming it is not sodered on, remove SSD from plug.
Take photographs.
Put case bottom back on. Screen screws back in.
Sell computer for parts on ebay as is. Use photographs and explain what works and what doesn't in the ad.
If SSD is soldered onto motherboard, try one of the other ideas using software. If all else fails, open MacBook as above, and destroy the motherboard and the SSD memory around the processor.
Use a hammer to destroy the computer. Put on safety glasses first.
If it won’t power up your only option is to physically remove the storage drive and then either destroy it or use a storage dock to gain access and wipe.
Easier to do what BobTheFisherman suggested (lol). However, if damage is not a worry then just take a small pry bar and open the case and destroy the drive.
If will still work when connected to a charger, you can see if you can get it into Target Disk Mode and connect it to your current computer:

Then you can erase the drive or at least delete your data.
