How to teach Siri to spell words correctly that I use hundreds of times a year. All my retyped corrections are ignored by "AI"!

I play chess and Siri refuses to learn the words rook and pawn. Of course it spelled them correctly here lol, but when notating my games in Lichess.com on Chrome, it consistently says rock and pond. I HAVE CORRECTED THE SPELLING HUNDREDS OF TIMES IN THE PAST FIVE YEARS and no improvement. AI my a**. But It's getting better...the initial spelling was p**n, not pond, years ago. Not kidding.

For the record after Siri got the word spelled correctly here, I went back to Chrome, and try again. Once again I got rock and pond, not rook and pawn. I saw some help pages dated 2016 for how to teach custom spellings. That method is now gone.

You might also want to try Brave which is based on the same engine as Chrome but without the privacy implications. I don't know if that would make a difference. Also, Firefox.

I have been using Firefox for years but I now prefer Brave for it's lack of adverts. When I set it to move all passwords over from Firefox many didn’t migrate. I am simply pointing out how good Brave is from an advert perspective.

Good idea, I will try it just for playing chess. We use browsers heavily in our business, and I can't tell you how many times I was told "we don't recommend Safari, it's not supported, we recommend chrome", etc. But will give it a try and post results. Thanks for the idea!

Very often, that sort of thing is said by people who either code non-conforming websites or who don't know much about Macs. I haven't found much in years that Safari won't handle. But, I don't play chess online so perhaps there's a whole area that isn't compliant.

Best of luck.

Will try Brave. Anything but Google. I can't believe anyone in the world uses Gmail. Doesn't everyone understand that Google runs every email you send through text recognition. If you have cancer or are pregnant or have any other condition or any other private matter, they're going to have advertisers targeting you. Gosh I wonder why everything is free on Google. Because they would sell your soul to advertisers if they could.

I actually gave up on Safari years ago. So Apple actually decided to take the radical step of making their browser best in class or at least equal to the best? I would get all kinds of errors trying to pay for things online etc. ... it was endless. But that was 10 years ago. And I'm a cranky old man. So I'll try both of these. Thanks for the help alll!

I hate Google!

Everyone needs to make their on risk/benefit calculation.

Same on Safari. It appears Siri is equally moronic on all platforms. Of course it doesn't even get capitalization right… Capitalizing words for no reasons in sentence for example, and this has been true for at least a decade.
