I have a Samsung Galaxy A16 and need to transfer a lot of photos to my Mac urgently. I used to use Samsung Smart Switch, but now it keeps freezing.
Any ideas on how I can transfer files from Android to Mac?

You can give this a try:
MacDroid - Manager for Android on the Mac App Store
The free version will work to transfer files from the Android phone. You will have to pay if you want to transfer files from your Mac back to your Android.
I'm sure there are other utilities available, which someone else here may be able to recommend.

I also recommend MacDroid from the Mac Apple Store.
