The phone can be tracked.....assuming that you enabled Find My on the phone.....before.....it wandered and that the battery still has a useful charge.....and.....the phone is in very close proximity to another iPhone to pick up the intermittent Bluetooth signal that the stolen phone is sending out.

Be extremely careful if you see a message from "Apple" or "Apple Service" that indicates that your phone has been found and you just need to provide a bit more information so the phone can be returned to you. Anything like this is a scam that is trying to trick you into providing your personal information so the thief can get into the phone. Ignore and delete any messages like this, even though they might look genuine.
Realistically, very very few stolen phones are ever recovered by the owner, but miracles do sometimes occur. Good luck.
