I have a Macbook Pro, 14" 2023, M2 chip, running Sequoia 15.2.
I have an external derive for Time Machine, which is always connected.
All Notification settings are Off. This notifications appears unexpectedly and repeats endlessly. Anything I open is partly obscured by them. Any help would be gratefully received.

That external drive is dropping its connection with your Mac. It's likely due to a power or cabling issue.
There are several potential fixes, including:
• changing the connecting cable,
• using a different drive enclosure or
• disconnecting the drive and only connecting it from time to time to update the backups (not really recommended).
You can dismiss the notification by hovering the mouse cursor on the message and clicking the Ⓧ in the top left corner. The escape key might also close that box.

I hope you've fixed the issue. High quality cables and enclosures are a necessity worth the cost.
These notifications come to the user direct from the Finder/OS, not generated by applications.
I think it appropriate to know when one's computer looses access to potentially critical external data resources and hardware. Think of them as analogous to your car's check engine light. You wouldn't want to disable that.
Thank you for your helpful reply. I have changed the connecting cable, and as yet , the notifications have been absent. I just wonder how they could appear when all notifications are turned off.
