Spotlight's indexing has been paused...

Well, I'm working about 8 hours a day on this machine editing in Pro Tools and dragging/importing audio files from the finder into it.

So when the program (Pro Tools) is running I get this message above "Indexing Paused..", the index never gets updated until I quit Pro Tools.app and wait for Spotlight to update.

Result: I'm unable to search for updated files in Finder while Pro Tools is running which is breaking my workflow.

Prior to Sonoma Spolight index was updated constantly.

Now I'm on Sequoia 15.2 and it still happens

if your machine is busy 8 hours a day, last time I looked that leaves 16 hours when you are NOT running ProTools. Disable sleep and let it complete its index, if it will.

If it does not mange to complete, you may need to ask it to create a new index:

Rebuild the Spotlight index on your Mac - Apple Support

if you have directories with huge numbers of files that you do NOT need to search, you could add them to spotlight exclude list.
