Clicking on downloaded apps opening App Store instead in iPhone

I’ve recently had issues where when I am clicking a link that should open an app already downloaded on my phone, it opens the App Store instead. Such as if a friend sends me a link to a TikTok video and I click it, it opens the App Store page for TikTok rather than the video id like to watch. What can be done to fix it? Or is this a system issue that Apple needs to address directly?

As of January 24, 2025, TikTok remains unavailable on the Apple App Store for U.S. users, despite President Trump's executive order delaying the enforcement of the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act (PAFACA) for 75 days.

The executive order has provided temporary reprieve, but legal uncertainties and potential fines continue to prevent TikTok's reinstatement on App Store.

In other words, the TikTok app won’t work for now.

You can access ⇢ TikTok on the web! 😉

Good luck! 👋🏼😉
