AppleCare+ Coverage for US-Purchased MacBook Pro in Israel

Dear Apple Support Team,

I am writing to inquire about AppleCare+ coverage for a MacBook Pro that I recently purchased from a friend in the United States. The MacBook is still under its original warranty, but the coverage is set to expire in a few days. My friend, who resides in Israel, is willing to renew the AppleCare+ annual coverage for me.

I would like to clarify the following:

  1. Geographic Coverage: Will renewing the warranty in Israel allow me to receive repair services at authorized Apple service providers in Israel? In other words, if I need a repair under warranty, such as a screen replacement or liquid damage cleanup, can I do so in Israel?
  2. Coverage Conditions: Are there any specific conditions or restrictions regarding warranty coverage in the case of purchasing a used device and renewing the warranty in a different country?
  3. Service Process: How should I proceed if I need to file a warranty claim in Israel? Should I contact my friend in the US first, or can I directly contact an Apple service provider in Israel?

I would greatly appreciate a detailed response.

Thank you, Noam.

First, you're not communicating with Apple when you post in the Community. Apple support or customer services representatives do not participate in these forums. We're all just fellow users, helping out as we have time and knowledge to share.

As to your questions, that would be best addressed to Apple Support in Israel so you get the official policy. The warranty and AppleCare+ usually are honored world-wide on Macs, but per the terms of the warranty and of AppleCare+, Apple can restrict coverage to the country in which the device was officially sold, and renewal of AppleCare+ is similarly not guaranteed outside of the country of purchase. Also, since you are now the owner of the Mac, the friend from whom you bought the Mac should transfer the AppleCare+ coverage to you:

But again, call Apple Support.
