Find my iphone not updating after phone dies and it recharges

Hi,

I've been told (by friends) that after my phone dies, and AFTER I charge my phone and its back ON, find my iphone shows '48 minutes ago' (for example) at the location my phone died. It does not update until I manually turn find my iphone off on my phone/stop sharing location, and turn it back on. It continues to have my last location at the place where my phone died until I do this (even though i'm moving around with my phone, texting on my phone, etc). Any idea why this is happening? Didn't have a problem in the past. Usually it just automatically updates when my phone turns back on.

I've tried turning off location services completely, etc, etc. But it happens each time my phone dies and it turns back on. And, yes, I am connected to wifi/have data on when it says my last known location is where my phone died. Yes, I am by cell towers and have service when this happens. I have also tried resetting network settings and location and privacy.
