Anti virus software for Macbook pro model A 1502

Is there any Anti virus software for an old Macbook pro, model A 1502? I realize that this is very old, but it still works. I am reluctant to go on the internet without any anti virus software, and the anti virus software that I've checked out is for newer models. I may be a little paranoid here, but I would rather be safe than sorry. I am guessing that this macbook is at least 8 years old, maybe more.

There are no Mac viruses in the wild.

Yes, there is plenty of other malware out there, but your can avoid allowing this stuff to be installed on your computer.

Keep your software updated and macOS is capable of keeping itself secure. There is no need to run any anti-virus, cleaners, optimizers or VPN apps. These apps often cause more problems and headache than they prevent because they conflict with the macOS’ built in securities. If you have this type of app installed, you should uninstall it according to the developer's instructions, and use best practices when using your Mac.

If you want to keep your Mac secure, follow this guidance:

• Keep your macOS and other software up to date.

• Don’t click links in email.

• Don’t download apps from unknown websites.

• Don’t disable your Mac’s built in security.

I suspect your MacBook Pro is capable of running a macOS that is newer than what you have.

I have it on good authority (Mactracker) that the A1502 may be capable of running Big Sur, maybe even Monterey.

Please tell us exactly which model year this Mac is. Find that info by clicking the Apple menu () at the top-left of your screen and then select About This Mac. (Note- for privacy and security reasons, please never post your serial number.)

Don't worry about it. The internet isn't true. Your computer is fine.
