The drivers for the SCX-3401 are for very old Mac operating system versions.

You could possibly try the universal driver V3.93.08 for the Samsung Xpress SL-M2020 or SL-M2070 printers (perhaps choosing one of these, or another model in the driver). However, the latest supported macOS version is 13 Ventura, so everything would be entirely experimental. It may not work at all.

As always, make sure that you have backup copies of all important files before testing anything.

Thank you for the information.

It would probably be correct to assume that you have tried to reset the printing system and re-add the printer. You may also have tested different model settings within the universal driver. However, if the driver in fact cannot be used with anything higher than macOS 13 Ventura, you may have to look for a completely different solution.

One way could possibly be to make an attempt to "convert" the SCX-3401 to become AirPrint-like via an inexpensive Raspberry Pi print server connected to the printer's USB port. This would be experimental. See, for example, the replies by Techguyuk in Can’t print with iPadOS17 - Apple Community.
