Which Thunderbolt cables can be used to transfer files between MacBookPros?

I have a MacBook Pro, 13-inch, Late 2013 and want to transfer all files and date to a new Macbook Pro M4 using a cable. The old MacBook supports Thunderbold 2 and the MacBook Pro is supported by Thunderbolt 4 only. So what cable is compatible between the two?

to do exactly what you asked about, your need the Apple ThunderBolt-3 <-> Thunderbolt-2 adapter, US$50 PLUS a thunderbolt-2 cable, another US$50.

... and after spending that much you can make your transfer, and then all that gear is surplus.

Maybe you would like users to suggest some other alternatives that do not require so much cash for a one-off transfer?
