AFAIK, WalMart is an Apple Authorized Reseller. As such, any Apple-branded products they sell should be the real deal. However, it is always possible, even if remotely, that they could be selling you a knock-off. Chinese writing, and "made in India" do not necessarily mean anything is amiss. Where do you think most of these products are made? ;)
Even with a serial number, Apple does not provide a means to verify authenticity. If you are concerned, I suggest that you take it to your local Apple Store to have them take a look, or just return it for a refund at WalMar, and then, get one directly from Apple.
