Final Cut Pro newest update timeline issue

Every time I drag and drop files in Final Cut on the timeline my clip will drop back to 1 frame and won't even play it turns into a freeze-frame almost. Even when I undo this it is a freezeframe so it feels like a bug.

I dont know why it's doing this?

If you have marked favorites, rejects or keyword ranges in the Event Browser and are filtering on those, it is easy to have a 1-frame sliver of a clip, which in the "filmstrip" view looks like a full clip. Then when you add that to the timeline it is only 1 frame. It is usually caused by your hand shaking or the mouse button bouncing when you mark ratings or keywords.

When you see the 1-frame clip on the timeline, select that and do SHIFT+F. It will show where in the Event Browser it came from. Look at the bottom of the browser and it tells you the duration of that clip. If it shows 1 or 2 frames, examine if that was a rating or keyword range or what, and fix it.

This is not something that I have heard about, and is certainly not a common occurrence.

When the application misbehaves you should delete its preferences, since corrupted preferences can cause all sorts of issues. To delete preferences, hold down command and option while starting the application and click Delete Custom Settings. The application will start with default settings and open an “Untitled” library. Adjust the settings, reopen the library you were working, and see how it works now.
