On disabling internet connection on my iPhone, spotlight stops working

Dear all

When I disable internet connection on my iPhone, spotlight is not working anymore.

Is this normal behavior?

When Airplane Mode is on and Wi-Fi is disabledSpotlight Search on an iPhone will still function but only retrieve on-device data that does not require internet access. This includes:

  • Contacts (stored locally)
  • Installed Apps
  • App Data (such as Notes, Messages, and Calendar events stored on the device)
  • PDF files (under the Books app and other locally stored documents)
  • Photos and Videos (from the Photos app)
  • Music (downloaded to the device)
  • Mail (only for downloaded emails)
  • Settings and Preferences

However, features requiring an internet connection—such as Siri Suggestions, Web Search, and fetching cloud-based data—will not work in this state.
