older, novice person here----receive emails (inbox)-use to delete, then they would appear in trash and i could delete all- not happening
also notice that there is an is a "V" thru the word " edit" on top right hand corner--
another question: "All Mail" - do I need? goes back several weeks-don't want if I have already read and deleted

Get the eMails to Sync:
I would expect it to, being these passwords are intended to make sure all is working as it should. If that fixes nothing, then remove the eMail Account from your Mail app, and then add it back: Add and Remove eMail Accounts on iPhone - Apple Support

Trash eMails Coming Back:
With that "V", something need to be expanded (likely a folder).
Use a New App Password for this Device:
Do you use an App Password? If so, try a new App Password. Create a unique one for each device. Remove the current one, and then use the new one instead. Sometimes, changes (i.e. updates) are made to the device, and then mail server syncing becomes an issue (which is what a new App Password it intended to fix).:
