Fixing colourful lines on MacBook Air screen

My MacBook was recently dropped, and now I have colorful lines going vertical and horizontal on my screen at the bottom and in the right hand corner. Can this be fixed?

Get this Serviced:

You have major damage to this device. So, it is covered under AppleCare+? Take it in for a Genius Bar Appointment at your local Apple Store. There, Apple will diagnose the issue, and will provide your options. Getting this serviced as at Apple's full discretion. These are just user-to-user forums. No one here has any say in what can and cannot be covered.

Getting Data Off:

Attach external devices, and mirror the display.

Mirroring the Display:

Performing the following will mirror the Mac to an external display, and allow you to use it as if it were you mac's screen.

  • Without Touchbar: Hold Down [command + F1]
  • With Touchbar: Hold Down: [command + dull screen]

Connecting External Devices:

Use these adapters (as applicable and necessary):

"Thanks for taking the time to reply. Of course my warranty expired months ago! Darn it. I know this will be an expensive repair!"

You are welcome.

A. Before Getting this Repaired:

Expensive though it may be, try working around it to get the data off on your own. See my previous reply. And if you need to get software, contact the Developer, asking them for a new installation key.

B. AppleCare+ Expiration:

Sorry to hear it has expired. Sometimes, Apple allows AppleCare to proceed, until the customer stops paying for it; the customer is charged on an annual basis. But, that is not always the case. How they make that discretion is beyond my knowledge. My 2018 MBP is still covered under warranty, and I still need it so that I can run older software on it. I plan to stop the renewal subscription, when my Mac this is no longer supported for updates (I am guessing this year). But, I can continue, if I desire.
