Application error: client-side exception on MacBook Pro for all search engines

I have recently started getting the above error on My Mac Air. It happens on all search engines, with and without Javascript, cleared all history and Cached, and on all different websites. I have looked at security settings and cannot see anything.

I just don't know what to do next but it is impeding my work on the Mac.

TIA

Emma

Emma, pending your answer to that question I confirmed the ability to search with the DuckDuckGo's webpage in High Sierra's version of Safari appears to be broken. Attempting to change the Search Engine in Safari's Preferences didn't work either. It inexplicably remained stuck at DuckDuckGo.

The good news, such as it is, is that provided you already have DDG selected in Safari's Search preferences it continues to work as it always has.

I did not have much time for additional troubleshooting on that Mac, but in general it seems support for High Sierra is crumbling fast. If I have any more information I'll update this Discussion.
