iPad Air won't Boot Up

Have restarted several times using volume up/down and power buttons. Connect to computer and get restore message. Select either Update or Restore, that window goes away as if it were going to do something. However, at best, iPad will restart on it's own but get no further than the Apple logo. Done the computer several times. Suggestions?

Presumably your iPad indicates that it must be restored:

If you see the Restore screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

These support pages outline the available methods to restore an iPad - either from a backup, or to Factory Settings:

Restore your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch from a backup – Apple Support

Restore your iPhone, iPad or iPod to factory settings – Apple Support

Restore all content to iPad from a backup - Apple Support

You’ll need access to either a Windows PC (with iTunes for Windows installed - or more recent Apple Devices App) or a Mac computer (with iTunes or Finder - as appropriate for the installed version of macOS).

Download and use iTunes for Windows – Apple Support

Update to the latest version of iTunes – Apple Support

Use of a PC or Mac computer is unavoidable. If you don’t have access to a suitable computer of your own, that of a helpful friend or family member will suffice. Alternatively, the technicians at the Genius Bar of your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) will be delighted to assist.

Yes, I have done all those steps. Just to clarify, I said connected iPad to MBP and it sees the iPad - "Select either Update or Restore, that window goes away as if it were going to do something. However, at best, iPad will restart on it's own but get no further than the Apple logo. Done the computer several times." So, I've connected the iPad to MBP, restarted, iPad appears on MBP Finder, option given to Update or Restore, select either one with same result - iPad reboots but gets no further than the Apple logo. And yes, I've been to the Genius bar, they didn't even get so far as seeing the iPad on their computer. So, just to be super clear - I've done all that you suggested and have been to all those links - and I'm posting here on this forum in the hopes that someone smarter will have a suggestion that isn't readily available by Googling. Thanks.
