Creating a slideshow with dates & text

I'm looking to create a slideshow with a couple thousand photos & want the date & description that is in the data of the photo to overlay. It seems I can only do that one photo at a time. Is there a way to get the info to move to the slideshow in mass or to access it any easier? I did do several hundred individually until something happened and all the text disappeared, without my finding a way to retrieve them. As a further dinosaur move, I intend to create a DVD of it. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Please help us help you. Do you plan to use the iMac 21.5" running macOS 10.14 showing in your equipment line, or another Apple device? I have to ask because the equipment line function is wrong about half the time—forum bug. Also, the Macs this section covers were mostly made before 2006, and this section gets few views.

Also to what access do you have access? That, and confirmation of the computer model and OS version will help us better assist you.

If this is about the iMac shown, I found this specifically for Mojave OS
