Settings > Notifications > Mail > Sounds …

Also be certain your sound volume is appropriately set.

Email notification sounds not working on iPhone 16 Pro Max Email notification sounds not working on the iPhone 16 series , what really kills me is that I had an iPhone 13 Pro Max that was working perfectly but with Apple touting the new AI intelligence I decided to spend the $1100 for the iPhone 16 Pro Max and now I have no email sound notifications. I think the new 16 series is a total failure and it seems like Apple doesn’t really care about customer service these days. There have been a couple of updates and still no fix totally ridiculous. Settings -> Notifications -> Mail

Set the Sounds to a suitable tone.
