Can I use earbuds on iPhone 14

I was wondering can I use earbuds on an iPhone 14 without the adapter or what it is called. Why did they take out the earbud spot? I don’t like this change and I k ow I’m a little late because the iPhone 16 just came out.

iPhone 14, iOS 18

if you don't wish to use an adaptor Belkin 3.5 mm Audio + Charge Rockstar - Apple

then your options are

to get a headset with a ligthningbolt connector EarPods (Lightning Connector) - Apple

or to get a bluetooth headset

why they removed 3.5mm, hard to say could be to make it easier to make them water resistant, maybe to save money maybe to counter all the issues with people having their phone get stuck in headset mode muting them even if no headset was connected.
