What is the best way to reset my MacBook Pro for a fresh start?

Hello? I have several problems with my Mac and I want to reset it. But which is cleaner, erasing the disk and installing in Mac Recovery Mode or resetting it through the Erase All Content and Settings option in Mac System Preferences? I got an error message saying that Disk Check/Repair failed and cannot be unmounted in Recovery Mode, and when background apps are automatically launched when I log in, the sound effects are annoying to my ears as a VoiceOver user, so I'm asking! Is reinstalling through Recovery Mode better? Is formatting with Erase Settings in System Preferences better?

if your Mac has a T2 chip (typically intel Macs 2018 and later) you use "Erase all content and settings" -- ONLY

Otherwise you risk wiping out part of the firmware and its settings stored on the drive.

If accidentally do that, you MIGHT be able to do a firmware restore using another Mac running a recent macOS, but that is a pain for NO added benefit.

If your computer is a Mac with Apple silicon, or an Intel-based Mac with the Apple T2 Security Chip that’s using macOS Monterey 12 or later, you can use Erase Assistant to reset your Mac to factory settings before you trade it in, sell it, or give it away.

if you choose to listen to people on Reddit instead, you risk wiping out firmware or firmware settings.
