Why does my Apple Watch Series 6 face shows a purple gear at the top?

Purple “gear” on watch face …. That gear now shows on my phone face in white outline and says “reduce interruptions”. Within the last few minutes I went into settings and reduced interruptions. I guess the purple gear on my watch is reminding me I did that!

It’s a very small gear directly above the red heart that indicates I have messages.
