Intermittent space bar issue on MacBook Pro and external Apple keyboard

I'm trying to make it happen now, but it isn't... of course.

1. My space bar is working properly now however, it wasn't earlier. I have a MacBook Pro and an external Apple keyboard. I've never had this problem before. Is there a new Apple feature that I'm not aware of? I've been a user for decades, and this has never happened before. Now it's working fine.
