How to set up parental controls

You really can’t … at least not effectively.

You need to create and setup your child’s Apple Account from your own “adult” Apple Account running on your own Apple device.

Then, monitoring and routine “maintenance” will continue to require a “parental” device in order to provide an appropriate level of parental oversight.

e.g. Requests to install apps on the child’s phone will need to be approved from the adult’s device.

And certainly no child should ever be handed an “out of the box” iPhone and told “have fun.” 🫣
