All desktop icons are open on my iMac

Click Finder's Dock icon, then click any empty spot on the Desktop.

In the menu bar click View > Show View Options, then uncheck "Show item info".

Looks like you really messed up, begin closing them.

You can also try:

• Relaunch Finder: Press Option-Command-Escape to open the Force Quit menu, or select Force Quit from the Apple menu

• Check Finder Settings: Review your Finder settings to see if they are causing the issue
• Turn off Stacks: Consider turning off Stacks to see if that helps
• Check iCloud Drive: Check your iCloud Drive settings to see if they are causing the issue
• Use Terminal: Use Terminal to unhide icons
• Replace plist files: Consider replacing any plist files that may be causing the issue
