How can I test and tag MacBook power adapter extension cables?

I test and tag equipment and have come across Apple "Power Adapter Extension Cables" on MacBook chargers. They look like they have a "figure-8" plug on the charger side, but it's not a true figure-8, as one side is straight and doesn't have the normal indent that figure-8s have. As a result, it doesn't fit into my tester.


Has anyone else managed to test these things? Do I have to pull out a multimeter and do them "old-school" style?

Are you complaining about this cable? the one labeled three prong grounded cord?





Then YES, you have to pull out your multi meter and check it manually.

But there are only three large conductors, so it won't take you long.


Oh, and the ground is expressed on the metal flange inside the flat end. It mates with the large raised chromed lug on the power adapter body.
