M1 macbook pro screen blurs and darkens after booting
2021 Macbook M1 Pro 16" A2485
Was using it the other day in some cold weather and it went from displaying ~75% battery life to blank screen won't turn on, put on charger for a couple hours, finally boots back up seems to be mostly fine but battery life is noticeably worse next few days, order a replacement battery, before new battery arrives I open it up to do some work and suddenly screen is extremely dark and blurry. Hasn't been dropped, nothing spilled on it, other than the battery starting to fail nothing seems out of order.
If I reboot screen is bright and sharp with the apple logo and progress bar, seems normal for a split second after it goes from apple logo screen to login screen then dark and blurry.
If I reboot and hold down key for boot options it's bright and normal to select the gear for startup options, sometimes goes into recovery mode fine sometimes goes blurry
If I connect up an external screen on the HDMI port after logging in I get blurry main screen and sharp second screen on the external. Closed macbook so now I have primary screen on the external and was able to make the second display mirror the first, you can see blurry windows being moved around on the mbp screen.
Looked at this thread: Blurry dark screen M1 MacBook Pro 14 - Apple Community
But the only other macbook I have is an older 2015 i7 with no USB-C ports so I don't think I have what I need to use configurator/DFU mode to fix it
I tried reinstalling MacOS and also tried erasing the hard drive and reinstalling, sharp screen thru parts of the install but still getting the blurry screen after bootup on both. Seems like mine needs a restore to fix it, is there a way to do that with what I currently have or do I need to find someone with a newer Macbook to help me do it?
MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 14.7
