Where are new files saved on my new MacBook Air?
Where are my new files being saved? They aren’t with the Files transferred from my old computer.

Typically, files will be saved in one of two common folders on your Mac; one being the Desktop and the other the Documents folder. But depending on the application you're using, they may end up in other locations.
For example if you're using the Pages application you might find that documents are save in the Pages folder nested within the Documents folder. Likewise with the Numbers application files.
Observe the location when you save your files and noter where they are being save to. And if you want to save them to a specific folder then you can select that when you save.

If you're taking advantage of iCloud sync, then you might discover that files are being housed on the iCloud drive because the Desktop and Documents folders are being uploaded for access by your other devices. If you only use your laptop and have no need to sync your files, you can turn off the feature.
