Using 27inch iMac as a monitor for my MacBook air

Can I connect my 2023 Macbook Air m2 to my 2015 27inch iMac in order to use the iMac monitor as my main display? If so, what cable would I need?

Thanks.

Alan

If you're referring to Target Display Mode, no.

  • Your 2015 iMac doesn't support it.
  • Recent Macs, like your M2 MacBook Air, don't support using any iMac as a Target Display.

There is a third-party workaround product called Luna Display that might let you use that 27" iMac as a second display – with limitations (e.g., not being suitable for high-motion content like that from gaming or video editing).
