Pages document won't allow Rename

Just for this week, Pages won't let me rename documents, or rather I can type in the new name but it will not save it. Never had this problem before!

I continue to have problems. If I name a file I'm working on and then set its destination, the title automatically reverts to untitled and icloud. This has been going on for quite a while. I'm running Sequioa 15.3.1 (24D70) on a macbook pro m1 (2020). The problem has persisted for quite a while now. Today is 2/18/25. There is a workaround, but I shouldn't need to work around the software. What i have to do is name the file, press enter, open the file again and rename the destination.

Per dlwill53:

"What i have to do is name the file, press enter, open the file again and rename the destination."

This has not been working for me. The only thing that has been working for me is changing the filename when it is NOT open, ie when it is sitting in the list of files in a particular folder. Sequoia 15.3.1, M3 MacBook Air.

It disappeared one morning first thing, only to re-appear later that same day, without having restarted either the app or the Mac.

I have used Pages for a long time and I do not attempt to rename files in it. That is what the Finder can do with a simple right-click on a Pages document.

There is no guarantee that Apple will not change Pages functionality from a past version to a current version, whether that is accidental or deliberate.
