Compound Clips not appearing in selection menu with the other clips

FCP v11.0.1

MacOS v15.3

Hi! Help?

I'm not understanding something and/or doing something wrong concerning working with Clips and Compound Clips.

The Compound Clips I created yesterday do not appear the the other clips I modified yesterday (02/05).

See the annotated Screenshot.

Thank you for your time, consideration, and any insight/information you may provide.

Like Tom, I am confused by you having a timeline named "Haunty Clip 08", with a compound by the same name inside it. Is "Haunty Clip 08" also the name of a project? If so, it may work, but makes for a very poor naming convention, one that is sure to lead to confusion. Please clarify this.

Also: I noticed that in your browser you have "Hide Rejected" selected. This may explain why some clips do not appear. See if the missing ones do appear if you switch that to "All Clips".

I just tested this, and switching to show "All Clips" does NOT automatically show "hidden clips". To show hidden clips you must go to the Browser settings menu and tick the check-box there. I am finding in my own work, and that of my students, this is causing the most confusion of any FCP feature ever. IMHO it's a half-baked idea that's not been well thought out. Could be useful, but in its current state, super-mega confusing.

Thanks, Tom.

I followed your directions on my 08 Clips—which do appear in my FCP clip selection menu. (Select one of the project clips and, with the playhead over it, press Shift-F. Where does it take you in the browser? If you think the clips in the project are compounds try double clicking them to see if they will open.)

The O8 clips did open. (See Screenshop 1, below.)

However, my problem involves clips that follow 08—09, 10, 11, etc. Thes DO NOT appear in the selection menu. They are visible in the Timeline, but not in the selection menu. I can't do anything with them.

(See Screeshot 2, below.)

Given this info, can you advise me further?

Thanks,

Charles

Thanks, Ben. I changed the selection to "All Clips".

The clips in question do not appear—but Tom pointed out another thing I did that makes no sense, which probably explains why.

I'm gonna but this project and start a new one, considering the insights that you, Tom, and Luis have provided.

Thank you for your time, consideration, expertise, and insights.

Best regards,

Charles

Also, I take your point about naming conventions.
