How can I restore app sound settings on iPhone 15 Pro Max?

When assigning sounds to my individual apps I don't get a drop down list of sounds where you used to assign them. It just has a toggle for sound to be on/off. It uses the sound that I put in in the sound/haspic settings. I know it used to have options.

iOS does not provide system-wide, app-specific alert sound settings for third-party apps. Instead, notification sounds are controlled within the app itself—if the developer has included that option. Some apps (like WhatsApp) allow users to select custom notification sounds, while others rely entirely on the default system alert.

App-specific notification settings are often found within the app's own settings rather than under the iPhone's main Settings menu. Not all apps have dedicated notification settings, but many modern apps do, allowing users to customize how they receive notifications, such as setting preferences for alerts, sounds, or banners.

For apps that don't have individual notification settings, the general iPhone settings under Settings > Notifications allow you to manage some notification preferences. However, apps with more granular control typically manage notification options within the app itself, often under sections like "Settings," "Preferences," or "Notifications" within the app.

Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, and YouTube all have in-app settings that allow you to adjust notification type and sounds. Here’s a breakdown:

  1. Instagram:
    1. Instagram allows you to adjust notifications for likes, comments, messages, and other interactions.
    2. You can turn off or customize notifications in the app, there are no sound options. However, Instagram relies on the iPhone's overall notification settings for sound and style.
  2. Facebook:
    1. Facebook offers notification settings within the app to control what type of alerts you receive.
    2. You can adjust whether you hear sounds for different types of notifications, such as likes, comments, or messages, and can also toggle on or off the in-app notification sounds.
  3. WhatsApp:
    1. WhatsApp has detailed in-app notification settings for messages, groups, and individual chats.
    2. You can customize the notification tone (sound) for specific contacts or groups and adjust other notification preferences, such as vibration and pop-up alerts.
  4. YouTube:
    1. YouTube allows you to manage notification settings within the app for things like new video uploads, comments, and other interactions.
    2. You can choose to enable or disable notification sounds, though the sound settings typically align with the general iPhone notification preferences.

Each app's notification sounds are usually linked to your iPhone’s notification settings, but they also offer customization options specific to the app.
