Error with new Sequoia OS 15.3 "Printer not found"

I have Epson WF-3720. Printer worked fine until I downloaded Sequoia 15.3. Error message says printer is offline.

Printer is online for my Iphone which works fine.

I've turned on/off Mac, printer and reset modem, so I wonder if this is a bug on new OS?

MacBook Air, macOS 15.3

Did chat with Apple. After trying a few things found that printers connected by usb even when not connecting by wifi (duh - I know) which showed it was not a printer problem. So tried a reset on printers.

The issue cleared up when I disconnected from wifi (which made job in print queue come out immediately), told it to forget network, and then searched for network again. When reconnected to network it showed all printers as present and working.

" new Sequoia OS 15.3 " from what previously you do not say(?)

Printer & scanner are typically the first causality in any macOS Upgrade, learn what to do...

I see your printer is listed in the AirPrint—

If it is listed as AirPrint printer, delete the existing printer, and add it again, select AirPrint.

“Print Center.app “ replaces all of the old printer icons. Everything should work as expected.

In Print Center, use the "Printer -> Add to Dock" menu.

This is also happening for an HP 5740 accessed via Airprint 3.0. It has worked flawlessly until the most recent update to Sequoia OS 15.3. The Macbook has always run the latest release of MacOS.

Now the Macbook sees the printer as offline. Other devices are able to see it and print to it. It seems to be more likely to happen after the Macbook resumes from sleep.

  • Resetting the Print System does not help.
  • Restarting the printer does not change the behavior.

The only fix I have found is to reboot the Macbook.

I just set my Canon to connect over AirPrint vs. the wired ethernet connection, and I can print from both the iMac and the MacBook to the Canon printer when it's a Wireless connection. But both printers show the as Offline when its an ethernet connection. My HP printer doesn't have Wireless connectivity, just ethernet.

So it seems to me that the OSX 15.3 update did something to screw up printing over ethernet connections.

Go into Settings/Network and make sure that the wired/ethernet connection is Green and not Orange or Red. If it's not Green, then the DHCP may be screwed up like mine was and it was not finding the local network. Maybe shutting down the computer, printer and rebooting the internet modem and the router, and then restarting the computer and printer will fix it. I also unplugged for a few minutes the Ethernet Switch that I use and that may have cleared out the bad IP address.

Many thanks. I’ve tried most things - I can ping the printer over the wired connection, access the printer’s web server from a browser, reset the printing system, etc. If I add it via IP as an IPP printer it works, just not as AirPrint. The printer has a static address. Have rebooted everything. Really seems to be an issue that was introduced with 15.3.
