Why won't my Magic Mouse turn on after charging?

Dear Community,

I’m having an issue with my Magic Mouse.

I haven’t used it for about five months, and now that I want to set it up again, it simply won’t turn on.

I charged it overnight, but there's still no response,

no light, no sign of life at all.

Has anyone experienced a similar problem?

Were you able to fix it?

It’s the model without removable batteries, so I am wondering: Could the battery be completely drained beyond recovery, or should I just keep charging it for longer?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Rechargeable lithium batteries have on major disadvantage, not just the ones used in Apple products, and that is, if they are left discharged for an extended period of time (think months), they lose their ability to be either fully charged, or in this case, not be able to be charged at all.

I know this first-hand, as this has happened to me ... so you're not alone in this.

Unfortunately, there is no user-serviceable parts in your Magic Mouse, so you will need to look into getting a replacement.

With this experience, you may want to consider setting up a calendar reminder to, especially for devices that you don't use often, to charge them every two weeks to prevent this from happening again.
